Taking action on the ground: a week of activities at Yaoundé – Cameroon
Training, sharing knowledge, providing support: KMWP works alongside women and instructors to bring a sustainable project to life.
In June 2023, KMWP organized a week of action in Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon, where violence against women unfortunately remains widespread. Our team—Michaël, Isabelle, and Romain—traveled there to lead a powerful project in partnership with the local FEKM club “Krav Maga Explosion” and several local associations.
Training for sustainable knowledge transfer
The week began with comprehensive training for local instructors: self-defense techniques, psychological awareness, and teaching methods. The goal was to enable them to continue KMWP activities independently, adapting to the specific realities and needs of Cameroonian women.
Self-defense workshops in the heart of neighborhoods
Together with our local partners, we have worked with several associations such as Nkul Meyong (dance association), Femmes Battantes, and Les Mariannes. We have run introductory self-defense workshops for women who have been victims of violence, with the aim of improving their safety, confidence, and self-esteem.
A united, grounded, and shared initiative
This project in Cameroon embodies KMWP’s solidarity-based and collaborative approach: acting locally, passing on knowledge in a sustainable way, and supporting women where the needs are most pressing. Thanks to the alliances built locally, this week of action marks the beginning of a long-term commitment in Yaoundé and beyond.
